BEESst Awards

Every year we award a Research Award for outstanding research achievement and the Service Award (previously the Spirit Award) for contributions to the BEES program through organizing events and promoting cohesiveness.

In 2007 and 2008, the awards were presented at the conclusion of the Graduate Student Research Day presentations during the BEES Round Up recruitment event. Audience members evaluated the speakers, and a winner was chosen for the Research Award. Students voted in the previous days to choose the Spirit Award winner.

Starting in 2009, the awards were presented at the Organismal Biology Day dinner. Both the Research Award and Service Award were chosen through a nomination and voting process organized by the BEES Student Taskforce chair.

In 2014, we began holding an annual Spring event (BEES Banquet in 2014, BEES Retreat in 2015) where awards were presented.
