I grew up in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez.
My research focuses on endocrinology and reproductive physiology in turkey hens, with a particular emphasis on the pituitary gland. My lab investigates the physiological differences between hens with low and high egg‑laying rates—a disparity that results in substantial economic losses for the industry. Our primary approach involves examining gene expression in dissected tissues and cultured cells using techniques such as qPCR, RNA sequencing, and Western blotting.
