I am broadly interested in understanding heredity. Isn't it amazing that we often achieve viability each generation with some genes turned off or on at different developmental stages? The stability of this information across generations involves more than just the genome— the epigenome! My research explores the identification of various epigenetic states of a gene that result in binary ON or OFF phenotypic outcomes. Using transgenes in C. elegans as a model, I aim to understand the mechanisms behind these states and their stability across generations, utilizing detectable molecular markers.
